Challenge girls, Conquest boys and many other young people in the Atlanta area came together during the Sacred Triduum for ECYD Holy Week Missions! This year, over 75 young people participated in these intense three d
ays of prayer, service and fun. Each day, team leaders led the missionaries in a reflection on the meaning of each of the holy days and then helped them prepare for the mission of the day. On Holy Thursday, they visited a nursing home to sing for and pray with the residents. On Good Friday, the boys climbed Sawnee Mountain with 5 crosses while the girls did faith surveys in various shopping centers. On Holy Saturday everyone put together a carnival for kids at local trailer parks to celebrate Easter with them.
One of the highlights for the missionaries was meeting Natalia, a young woman from Colombia who grew up in ECYD! Just as the missionaries were leaving their Good Friday mission site, Natalia came up and asked if the youth were with Regnum Christi since she had recognized the Mission Youth logo on their t-shirts. After marveling over God’s Providence in placing the missionaries in her path, Natalia (who had participated in Giro, Challenge’s equivalent in Spanish-speaking countries, and had even been a team leader for several years) joined the group for their final day of missions on Holy Saturday!
