Camp MI1Challenge Michigan decided to do something a little different for the camp this year and the result was a wonderful experience for their camps. Camp Ard-Righ was a storyline Challenge camp that took place from June 21-30, 2016 at the YMCA Camp Nissokone in Michigan. Over forty girls from 5th – 9th grade participated in this great adventure camp. The leadership team was made up of 7 adult volunteers and about 13 team leaders counselors and missionaries.

Camp MI4The story line was centered around Domhan, the Kingdom of the Ard-Righ (High King), had been overtaken by Breugach, who was doing all he could to destroy the goodness, truth, and beauty that are characteristic of this Kingdom. The underlying theme and message of the camp was self-worth and beauty as daughters in the eyes of God the Father. We did all formative elements through experiences and here is the storyline we used. The Ard-Righ decided that he would choose a warrior-princess who would be strong and brave, good and noble, pure and beautiful. One who could not only defeat Breugach, but restore the Kingdom to its original dignity. He summoned all of the maidens of this Kingdom to a contest, through which he would choose the one who he thought would be best suited for the task. It was a contest to be remembered, and because of the goodness and worth that each girl has as a Beloved Child of God, each girl was chosen personally by the Ard-Righ to be a Warrior-Princess.

Camp MI2Some of the adventure activities which the girls enjoyed were the climbing walls, canoeing, horseback riding, team challenge courses, fencing, theater and drama, a high ropes course, zip lining, archery, paintball, gaga ball, outdoor skills, swimming, sailing, wakeboarding, waterskiing, tubing, kayaking, a pontoon boat cruise, and a giant water slide, and bonfires.

Camp MI5One of the main spiritual highlights was the adoration on the last night when they had the girls choosing ceremony. The girls were told to dress up in their very best and meet the High King. This created a very special spiritual experience.
